23 Sandy Gallery is pleased to present Fabricating Reality: Creating Fine Art Collages with Multi-Element Photographic Art with Fran Forman Sunday, June 8, 2008, 10 am - 5 pm PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is currently full. But, we are taking names for a wait list. It seems we always have a couple of drop outs, so you may very well get in. If you would like to be added to the wait list please send Laura an email. Thank you! Fran Forman’s fabricated photographic realities suggest an unfinished story or a snippet from a dream and will be featured in the gallery at 23 Sandy in June. Her photographic collage techniques are perfectly suited to portray the imagined world of idea, memory, and emotion. Fran will show us her photographic collages and discuss how these are constructed from the alchemy of photography, scanner, and computer. Students will use Adobe Photoshop to explore the multi-faceted art of the photographic composite. Our explorations may range from combining two or more exposures of the same scene to control contrast, or incorporating visual materials into existing images, to create dream-like montages. In all cases, students will explore Photoshop’s capabilities for image layering and montage and each student will work on developing his or her own style and individual works of art. Students will explore collages based on image overlays and multi-layered creations woven from various sampled sources. Students will also experiment with Photoshop’s painting and layering tools. Some of the options covered will include global and local adjustments, color correction, layer organization, blending modes, and image transformation tools. This workshop is best suited for artists with some experience with Photoshop. Register Online for this Workshop!
