Bettina Pauly Bettina has created a series of rubber stamped "Crazy Carousel" books. Each has a different theme and is produced in an open, variable edition. Pictures really don't do these one's justice. See below for closeups of the Alice book to get an idea of how these books look in real life. Each of these three themed books are carousel structures: 5 spreads, each with 3 layers of overlapping concertina folds with sections cut out to create a 3- dimensional scene. When opened with the magnetic covers are placed against each other, they form a star-shaped structure, 6.2" in diameter. Hand-stamped rubber stamp pictures on Mohawk Superfine Eggshell paper, using stamp pads with archival ink. Rubber stamps from all over the world, many of them from Leavenworth Jackson. Panels cut by hand using sharp razor blades.The book structure used is the carousel book; three layers in different length are folded as accordion. Once they are decorated the three layers are nested together and sewn together. 4.75 x 3.25" closed; 4.5 x 19" extended. |
