Artist Statement
My maternal grandmother was a renown seamstress, who for a time made her own line of children’s clothes from her home in New Haven, Connecticut. From this initial inspiration arose other ideas: associations with mythology, what it means to “carry” a child, and the shifting, fragile, ineffaceable bond between mother and child.
