Artist Statement
This concertina book features multiple generations of women in my family. These women were the keepers of tradition and the storytellers. They embraced and endured the changing and tumultuous times in which they lived. These wise women shared their life’s lessons and the notion of “tribal memories” served as an inspiration for this work.
The text for this book is derived from an ancient carving featuring the Chinese character for Long Life which brings good wishes for longevity and good health.All images and text copyright the artist. All rights reserved.
