Artist Statement
All My Relations was created after my grandmother died. The things in her house encapsulated her life and the narrative of our family. Her story, once whole as she could tell it and shape it, was disassembled into objects that became symbolic representations of true events and stories, yet removed from her. Snapshots and personal articles embody the narratives of our lives as memory triggers and markers of time. This book is about wondering about my family stories through pictures and objects and finding ancestral connections.
