I wanted to explore my local community gardens and capture the essence of these organic places; the plants, soil, water and sunlight. I like the idea of these rural plots of land amidst our urban environment with their own unique cycle of seed, growth, harvest and returning back to fallow. I am also drawn to the clear devotion and care that goes into the creation of these gardens where one establishes a connection with the earth and nourishes both the body and soul. These prints are platinum/palladium on vellum from a digital negative which illustrates the tremendous tonal range of platinum and the wonderful luminosity of vellum.
