Artist Statement

Since childhood I have been attracted to the macabre and mysterious sensibility of the 19th century. As an artist working in various mediums and formats the wet plate collodion process has been a fantastic way to connect to this. The series “Suspended in Time” was a collaboration with members of the body modification community to present Suspension in an historical and timeless manner. Antique process and equipment, the labor intensive method of the wet plate process, and the physical extremes of the act of Suspension all come together to form a record of experience, a window into another world.
