Artist Statement

I celebrate the beauty and complexity of nature in sculpture, land art, and mixed-media hand-crafted artist’s books. My goal is to create unique views of natural processes and interactions between individuals, societies and the environment.

The Open Book series explores our expectations and surprises as we open a book and find that life is different than we had expected. Open Book II: My Life Is An Open Book has many secret envelopes and layers that hide life’s details from other people. The book is physically beautiful and formal, but inside, we find that complexity can be confusing. Unknown strings attach us to our past, and we must treat our various selves (our pages) gently if we are to find a coherent whole.
