Artist’s books: image and text intertwine, flow, reveal . . . Personal mythology informs my activity in the studio. Image and text communicate individual experience in unique and limited edition books. I use a range of materials in my books, traditional and experimental. In some, painted or photographic images and text communicate with the intimacy of a diary. In others, the visual immediacy of monoprinting or the spatial dynamics of sculpture are combined with historic letterpress printing within a layered narrative book sequence. Book arts combines the many skills I have acquired as an artist—painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media assemblage, welding, woodworking, glass working, writing, poetry. It often takes a minimum of 2 years, and usually longer, for me to create a book from concept through completion.
