Hidden Secrets and Lie - This altered book’s original title was Big Lies; the chapter title, partially seen in the top left corner is “misleading the blind.” Taking the theme of “lies” and expanding on it to include “secrets”, I constructed eighteen small envelopes, containing synonyms for lies and kinds of secrets. The envelopes can be buried in the folds of the altered book or left to hang.
My Secret (inoperative) Journal - After writing a few pages of secret thoughts, I enclosed the pages in a polymer clay cover using a stab binding. I purposely did not hinge the book; so it can’t be opened to reveal my “secrets and lies“.
Artist Biography
Joy Campbell is a retired educator who began making art books in 2004. She is an active member of the Santa Fe Book Arts Group (B.A. G.) and resides in Santa Fe, NM. Her work has been exhibited in shows and galleries in New Mexico and Colorado.
