Crows/ravens are spirit messengers that have often inspired my art. For the last two years I have spent winter months in south Florida. Every evening hundreds of these birds gather along utility lines to enjoy the spectacular sunset over the St. Lucie River. They share secrets of the unknown with each other as they bid farewell to another day. Sunset Secrets, an accordion fold book, pays homage to these magical moments.
Artist Biography
Charlotte Hedlund is a mixed media artist intrigued with connections; how new work connects to old work, how art connects us all. Over the years her work has evolved from large painted surfaces to small mixed media works. Finding creative joy in these intimate scale works led her to explore the medium of artist’s books, where the creator and the viewer can get up close and personal with art and message. She has been exhibiting artist’s books since 1996.
