The work was conceived as a response to the dilemma of whether or not to contact an important friend from childhood. This piece is semi- autobiographical and describes the thoughts that race through each persons mind as they walk towards each other after an absence of twenty years. The format of the book mirrors the stories that are being told: separate yet entwined. It also mirrors the thinking of the two people and in doing so you, the reader, get a sense of their interconnectedness. The secrets are those that we keep both to and from ourselves and the lies are those that are never heard.
Artist Biography
Siobhan Martin. b. Harpenden U.K 1961. Returned to college and gained my MA in Book Arts from University of the Arts, London. 2006. Continue to teach Art and Design to wide age range sometimes including Book Arts. Participant in Book Arts fairs in U.K.
