1.writing material (as parchment or tablet) used one or more times after earlier writing has been erased; 2. something having diverse layers or aspects apparent beneath the surface.
We all have secrets. Things we hide from everyone except ourselves. If you happened to write one down or speak it aloud, could you hide it again? Once revealed, can it be erased? Or does it always leave a trace, to be rediscovered later by someone else? What if you told a secret and didn’t notice the birds sitting silently in the trees around you? What if they suddenly flew away, taking your secrets with them?
Artist Biography
Deanna Wood holds a BFA and MA in Graphic Design and an MFA in painting, all from Texas Woman’s University. She curated an exhibition of artist’s books called “Beyond the Scrapbook,” which was recently featured at Tarrant County College in Arlington, Texas. She teaches bookmaking and encaustic painting workshops.
