Most of my “books” are artworks that incorporate a book or books. The books are included inside of a sculptural format which is most often an architectural form. Most of the forms are constructed out of clear plexiglass. The various components of these forms are a reflection of the contents of the book. “A different sort of garden” is a piece designed to be a sort of fantasy conservatory. It means to convey moments and thoughts that interupt the ordinary with the sensual.
Born and grew up in the Baltimore and Annapolis area of Maryland. Studied at the Maryland Institute of Art, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and graduated from the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota Florida. Traveled extensively throughout the world in an effort to maximize exposure to art, architecture and archeology. The career body of work has always had a definite emphasis on architectural components. Bookmaking began as an exercise in making small artworks while traveling. It has evolved into a complex body of work, which highlights a sculptural core to reflect and present the book and its contents. Lives and works in Seattle, Washington and British Columbia, Canada.
