National Juried Artist Book Exhibition
June 27 -August 4, 2007
This national juried exhibition showcased 42 handmade artist books submitted from across the U.S. and Canada. Artists were challenged with the “Sense and Sensuality” theme and were encouraged to create works that push a few boundaries or even play with some racy content. From letterpress printing to ink jet printing, and from traditional binding styles to sculptural book objects, gallery visitors found an amazing range of artwork. The entries were juried by Jim Carmin who is the John Wilson Special Collections Librarian at Multnomah County Library.
A Purchase Prize Award was selected by our juror, Jim Carmin. The winner is Sarah Bryant for her book, The Index. A copy of this terrific edition was purchased by the gallery and donated to Jim’s collection at the library. Congratulations, Sarah!
