Upcoming Exhibitions at 23 Sandy Gallery

March 4 - 27, 2010

Virginia Flynn
The Butcher, The Baker, The Candlestick Maker

In this new body of work, Flynn re-interprets the ornate vintage signs that hang over the doorways of merchant houses throughout France. The original cut metal signs created a picture: here a fish shop, here a leather tanning shop, here a tailor. Flynn’s delightful paper cutting techniques re-interpret their modern message about “what lies inside.” You can review Virginia's 2009 show here or stop by the gallery to see her current inventory.

May 6 - 29, 2010

Andrea Benson

Layers upon layers of encaustic wax give Andrea's paintings an opulent depth. Paper and drawings are often collaged and embedded into the paintings as they are carved and inlaid with pigment and built up in low relief. Her subject matter, typically figurative, implies a story or narrative often inspired by myths, stories, current events or personal issues. Preview our current inventory of Andrea's work here or stop by the gallery for a better look.
