Flower Garden Buddha
14" x 28"
Encaustic on wood panel
$1200

This was part of a series of Buddhas and hand gestures, with the hand manifesting what the mind creates. The enveloping flowers are in the process of both becoming and fading away. Like brainwaves, the stripes imply a gentle and rhythmic fluctuation. It is an image lush and florid, but still peaceful.

Heart Nest
6 " x 39"
Encaustic on wood panel
$500

Made as one of a series of “nests” not for birds, but rather nests for one’s idea of self. These nests were imagined as soft pouches where we carry the many stories we tell ourselves; stories the inner voice uses to create and maintain our sense of self. This nest, with a subtle heart or torso shape, swings tenuously, rough and worn on the outside, yet soft inside, lined with flannel and waiting like a warm bed.

Talk Rocket
12" x 24"
Encaustic on wood panel
$700

We live in a time in which the means to communicate are constantly proliferating, pundits are pontificating and every other driver is on a mobile phone. What is it that everyone finds so important to be talking about so incessantly? There is an explosion of blather. It seems as if our society has devalued quiet and this piece expresses a wish to blast the talk away.

Heart/Nest/Hands
10" x 10"
Encaustic on wood panel
$300

The hands echo the shape of heart, but also have a sense of being enfolded wings. They ask for compassion and care for this heart, small, precious and fragile. The piece is a prayer made visible, reminiscent of a Latin American retablo.
