Randi Parkhurst

Colony 45

Like a bird’s eye view of our claustrophobic skyscraper environment, the 39 boxes and 45 books in this piece represent buildings and human knowledge, reminding us that we have the potential to create beautiful cities. All of the books in the boxes are removable by pulling the braided linen cords.

Papers by the artist, linen thread, long stitch over book cloth tapes, acrylic, graphite, watercolor, braided linen pulls. 17 x 17 inches. 2010. Unique. $2000
