Items from 121 Garden Lane

This book presents a selection of the photographs I took in 2007 following my grandmother’s death, in which I meticulously catalogued all of her possessions before we dispersed them among family members. These images are paired with text, transcribed as I remember it, from a letter she wrote her sister while on a road trip from Alaska back to their home in San Francisco. This personal information is not included with the book; the idea was to make a collection of images, a catalog of the artifacts of a life, and then to let them speak for themselves, to the universal experience of nostalgia for a life past.

Letterpress and laser prints. Book consists of 12 cards within a handmade box. Each card has a photograph on the front, and text on the back; the prints are on heavy cardstock. The box was printed with the title on a Vandercook letterpress and assembled by hand. 3.5 x 4.5 inches. 2010. Edition of 25.
