A Summer's Friend

I am always drawn to “creatures” large and small… but I never considered befriending a toad! It was during last summer when this encounter resulted into a daily morning occurrence, involving photographing sessions of a green kind! The book is my way to show and convince that my “relationship” with this special friend indeed happened! I chose the flag structure because it translates best the movement and the jumpy personality of my subject. Needless to say I enjoyed constructing this book as much as photographing the subject.

Flag book. Archival inkjet printing on Epson Premium Presentation paper, Canson Mi-Teintes paper. 9 x 5 x .75 inches. Opens out to 28 inches. 2010. Variable edition of 10.

Aritst Biography

Anna Mavromatis is an artist illustrating her “stories” through many mediums and formats. Her work incorporates elements of printmaking using a vast array of mediums, including digitally generated imagery. She also applies these techniques in the design and construction of one of a kind and small edition artist books.
