Artist Statement

I have just begun revisiting old methods of creation, using a variety of materials in combination with photographic fragments.  Each of these pieces tells a slightly different tale.  But what they have in common, is that each of them explores the idea of closets, crannies and cubby holes.   Closets are places of safety, but they are also places of stagnation. I’m thinking about the nature of secretness...of what it means to “be in the closet”; I am wondering about shame –about where it comes from, about where it goes to, and about how it distorts our sense of self and our sense of belonging.
