Le Maschere della Commedia dell'Arte

This book was created at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy during a study abroad program. I was greatly inspired by the masked Commedia characters of Venice to create a work that would celebrate them in a unique structure. The sextuple accordion structure, which
reflects the diamond pattern in the Harlequin’s costume, can be bent and manipulated into various positions to group the theatrical characters into miniature “plays,” viewable through the colorful framing prosceniums.

Images were printed in wax ink, and then transferred onto Modigliani paper. Text was set digitally in Mrs. Eaves, and inkjet printed. Pages were watercolor painted and sewn into a sextuple accordion structure, housed in a clamshell box. 240 pages. 9.5 x 2.5 x 1.75 inches. 2010. Unique.
